Helped microlender ACCION Texas-Louisiana fund over $100,000 in loans through Kiva.org. Established processes ensuring they can maintain this funding source on their own. Trained, blogged, and advocated for Kiva & ACCION. Self-managed.

Took initiative in other areas, including:

  • Initiated an overhaul of the internal Kiva Fellows wiki
  • Created a Kiva brochure for ACCION to give potential borrowers

Built consensus on good UI designs with many opinionated stakeholders. Shipped the project on time, despite significant scope increase. Project generated more than $2.5 million increase in gross profit per year.

Flight search page UI improvements

Distilled low-cost, high customer-benefit elements out of expensive, questionable business request.

Create process for handling DB data changes in monthly releases

Proactively identified lack of clear process. Drafted, diagrammed, vetted, & got buy-in on new process. Found technical owner to finalize it.

Complex Pricing Modification

Legally driven project with over $120 million financial risk, 2 month deadline, and 3 program managers. Created specifications for half of project functionality. Lead investigation into obscure product behavior & documented findings. Managed test environment, with highest deployment success rate in Expedia history. Project released on time.

Consultant for Expedia World Heritage Project

Two week on-site project to catalyze Lake Quinault's tourism development. Mocked up a sample marketing website. Drafted website owner job description. Developed and delivered a website ownership workshop. A hotelier invited me back for independent web consulting.
